When the stars met their life partners…

They say marriages are made in heaven. But for some, their profession leads the way to the hearts of their soul mates. For the Kapoors, the first family of Hindi Cinema, films have always played a pivotal role in bringing two hearts together. Shammi Kapoor, his younger sibling Shashi, his nephews Randhir and Rishi have all exchanged martial vows with ladies whom they had been seen romancing on screen. And proud daughter Kareena of the Kapoor Khandaan, too, chose to settle down with her co-star of many films, Saif Ali Khan.

Interestingly, Saif also hails from a very influential family – his father Mansur Ali Khan was the Nawab of Pataudi and his mother, actress Sharmila, traces her lineage to the family of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Marriage isn't an easy commitment to keep and more so when two celebrities choose to enter into matrimony together. It takes two to tango and hence the two involved in the alliance must ensure that they put in sincere efforts to make the marriage work. Saif and Kareena hail from families that are known for their family values. Their respective families have stood together through thick and thin and have always been a cohesive unit. And Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, whom people collectively address as Saifeena, are all set to take the legacy further.

Here's taking a look at how members of these two popular families decided to take the marital plunge with their respective spouses:

Shammi Kapoor-Geeta Bali

Shammi Kapoor met Geeta Bali in 1955 while shooting for 'Rangeen Raaten'. Geeta was an established star back then while Shammi had just begun his career as an actor. The duo fell in love within four months of knowing each other. Since Geeta was a year older to Shammi and had worked with Raj Kapoor and his father Prithviraj, she was quite apprehensive about her relationship with him. But love had other plans for her. She exchanged marital vows with Shammi in an impromptu marriage. The couple was very much in love and their marriage a success, and ended with Geeta's death due to small pox.

Shashi Kapoor-Jennifer Kendel

Shashi Kapoor and British actress Jennifer Kendel first met in Calcutta while they were preparing for their respective theatre shows and subsequently fell in love. Their families had opposed to their marriage but Shashi saw support in his sister-in-law Geeta Bali. The duo tied the knot in 1958. Shashi and Jennifer were madly in love. It was Jennifer's death in 1984 that put an end to their marriage. Jennifer succumbed to cancer and post her death, Shashi went into depression.

Randhir Kapoor-Babita

Randhir and Babita made a perfect on-screen couple in 'Kal Aaj Aur Kal' and decided to culminate their blossoming relationship into marriage. Babita had agreed to quit working in films post marriage, as she had to abide by the customs of the Kapoor Khandaan. Their marriage hit the rocks and the couple decided to part ways. Though Randhir and Babita chose not to end their relationship legally, they led separate lives under different roofs.

Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh

The cute couple of the 1970s, Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh were undoubtedly made for each other. Rishi and Neetu fell in love and wanted to marry each other. But their respective families had objected to their marital union. Rishi was so determined to marry Neetu that he is reported to have visited her house to ask for her hand while he was running high fever. On seeing their undying love for each other, their families decided to give them a green signal.

Karisma Kapoor-Sanjay Kapoor

After ending her engagement with Abhisek Bachchan, Karisma surprised one and all by marrying industrialist Sanjay Kapur. Sanjay and Karisma's marriage has been under speculation for long and reports were rife that their paradise was in trouble. Time and again the actress denied having differences with her husband. Though Karisma has categorically denied rumours of the trouble in her marriage to Sanjay, the duo has been seen together at various socials dos.

Sharmila Tagore- Mansur Ali Khan

Sharmila, the actress and Mansur, the sportsperson, fell in love and soon decided to get hitched. Sharmila, the great grand niece of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore embraced Islam before marrying Mansur, the Nawab of Pataudi. Their marriage was a successful one. Despite losing her husband in 2011, Sharmila decided to keep the Pataudi tradition alive and got her son crowned as the new Nawab of Pataudi. And is now all set to get him married to his ladylove Kareena Kapoor.

Sex addiction is real disorder: Study

Sex addiction, which has traditionally been written off as an "excuse" for philandering celebrities, is indeed a real disorder, a new study has suggested. The disorder, in which sufferers have relentless sexual urges that feel out of their control, is even being considered for inclusion in America's 'bible' that lists all mental conditions – the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

However, until now researchers have been struggling to define what hypersexual disorder - as sex addiction is formally known - actually is.

According to study researcher Rory Reid from University of California, Los Angeles, under one proposed definition a person who simply has frequent sex would not be diagnosed with it.

But a person whose sexual activities are excessive, frequently used to cope with stress and interfere with their ability to function in daily life may meet the criteria for the disorder.

In a new study from the university, the researchers emphasised that they are not trying to turn common behaviours like having a lot of sex, or watching pornography into disorders.

Instead, people with hypersexual disorder report feeling out of control, and act on their sexual urges, disregarding the repercussions.

"They might consider the consequences momentarily, but somehow feel their need for sex is more important, and choose sex even in situations where such choices might cause significant problems or harm, such as job loss, relationship problems or financial difficulties," the Daily Mail quoted him as telling the website MyHealthNewsDaily.

In the UCLA study, hypersexual disorder was defined as "recurrent and intense sexual fantasies, sexual urges, and sexual behaviour," lasting at least six months.

To be diagnosed with the disorder, these sexual fantasies, urges and behaviours cause the patient distress, or interfere with some aspect of the patient's life like job or social life.

They must not be brought on by drugs or alcohol, or another mental disorder.

The conclusions were drawn after the researchers interviewed more than 200 people who had been referred to a mental health clinic, without knowing the reasons for their referral.

Of them, 150 were thought to have sexual behaviour problems; the others had problems such as substance abuse.

Using the definitions above, 134 of the patients referred for sexual problems were diagnosed with hypersexual disorder, and in 92 percent of cases, the professionals agreed on who should be diagnosed with the condition.

Doctors also asked patients to report which behaviours were most problematic for them, including masturbation, pornography viewing, sex with consenting adults, cybersex, telephone sex and frequenting strip clubs.

The majority who were diagnosed with hypersexual disorder said masturbation and pornography viewing were problematic.

Some patients reported losing jobs because they could not refrain from these behaviours at work, the study found.

"Having a disorder didn't help them avoid consequences, such as divorce, but it is advantageous for them when they want to get help and change," Dr Reid said.

The study had been published online in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

The cheat's app: Adulterers can make lovers' calls disappear

A new phone application has been developed that helps cheating overs keep their affairs secret.

The Cate app, which stands for "Call and Text Eraser", creates an invisible log of calls and text messages and can hide specific numbers from the contacts list.

The screen will never indicate who has called and at the touch of a button, all private information can be wiped from the phone forever.

Unlike other apps, the Cate icon does not appear on the home screen and if someone walks in while the cheat is reading their illicit texts, a simple shake of the phone will make it all disappear.

For added confidence, the adulterer has to enter a secret code to access the app and all the hidden features it provides.

Advertised with the slogan "Love is blind, we keep it that way!" the smartphone app, which costs 3 pounds (4.99 dollars) to download, is the brainchild of Boston entrepreneur Neal Desai.

The 25-year-old student bought the app for 11,000 pounds from a Miami police officer, who developed the program after seeing his friend dragged through the divorce court thanks to incriminating text messages on his phone.

Desai then decided to expand the business by appearing on 'Shark Tank', the American equivalent of BBC2's 'Dragon's Den' and ended up securing 70,000 dollars (44,000 pounds).

During the pitch he claimed that professional golfer Tiger Woods, who famously cheated numerous times on his wife Elin Norgegren, would actually still be married if he had bought the Cate app.

Since the app was launched three weeks ago, it has been downloaded 10,000 times and so far 70 percent of the purchases have been by women.

While critics have pointed out the "morality" of his product, Desai insists that there are legitimate reasons for using his app, which he says is there to protect someone's privacy.

"It's a privacy app, essentially, and as with every technology that involves privacy, there is good with the bad," the Daily Mail quoted Desai as telling The Sunday Times.

"But it is also labelled a privacy application and could have uses for government officials, or corporate business, or for lawyers whose entire business is based on keeping things confidential," he added.

Emraan in Rush for Bakri Eid slot!

Emraan in Rush for Bakri Eid slot!

While Salman Khan may call Eid his own, buzz is that Emraan Hashmi is eyeing Bakri Eid to schedule his upcoming releases

Salman Khan and Emraan Hashmi are probably the only two actors in the industry who have a huge fan following in the masses. While Salman is known as the king of masses, Emraan has slowly and surely earned the reputation of being the prince of masses.

Now Emraan will be having his first release this month end on Bakri Eid and he now intends to make this date his own.

A source says, `Festival seasons are known to be good for business. Be it Eid, Diwali or Christmas, the audience loves to come and watch films. While Aamir prefers his films releasing during Christmas and Republic Day, Salman has ruled the box office during the Eid festival. Emraan will have his upcoming film with Sagarika Ghatge and directed by the late Shamim Desai this Bakri Eid.`

Emraan apparently wants to see how the film fares at the box office compared to his recent hits. The source adds, `In fact the film has been delayed due to the untimely death of its director Shamin Desai and Emraan is going out of his way to promote the film.`

Sources say that if this film works well on Bakri Eid, Emraan will plan his other releases too around the same date.

Finally, Salman Khan says YES to Angela Johnson

Finally, Salman Khan says YES to Angela Johnson
It's finally happening for Angela Johnson. After a nearly 2-year wait her celluloid debut is happening. Salman Khan has not only given his final nod to Angela as his leading lady in his prestigious home production Sher Khan, director Sohail Khan has dropped the second leading lady's part, so that the focus of attention would be completely on the lissom Ms Johnson.

Says a source close to the project, `There were two leading ladies in the script. But now the second girl's role has been scrapped, so that Angela gets full attention. `

Angela would also be required to train in some serious martial arts since her part in Sher Khan is being described as a ` combination of Lara Croft and Fearless Nadia`. Several elaborate action scenes are planned for the leading lady. She would be trained by a slew of international stunt-men.

All this pampering for the debutetante comes with a price. Angela who has so far been in the news for her various link-ups (imaginary or otherwise) had been asked to `disappear` from public attention.

The girl is virtually under house curfew!

Says the source, `Late nights, media events, awards functions, public performances, showroom inaugurations...have all been banned for now. Angela has been asked to avoid public attention as much as possible. Salman wants her to be unveiled to the public as a complete newcomer in Sher Khan. `

Says the Sher Khan director Sohail Khan, `Now there's only one girl in Sher Khan. The second role didn't shape up well enough. So we removed it from the script. `

Shocking Online trouble for Yami Gautam and Vidya Balan

Shocking Online trouble for Yami Gautam and Vidya Balan

Both actresses become victims of impostors on social networking sites

While one may be a seasoned actress in Bollywood, and the other still sinking her teeth in, looks like both Vidya Balan and Yaami Gautam were in for a rude shock recently. Both actresses have realised that there are imposters on the web, pretending to be the real Vidya and Yaami.

Our source says, `Vidya was shocked over the number of people she has been meeting in the industry informing her of their conversations with her on a social networking site. She has now managed to inform her near and dear ones that they have been chatting with the fake Vidya.`

What's interesting to note is that both Vidya and Yaami are not registered on any social networking website. Vidya says, `Even the '@realvidyabalan' handle on Twitter is fake.`

Yaami, who is currently shooting down South for a Tamil film, admits that she doesn't believe in spending time on social media.

She adds, `I have never really been a fan of it. Having said that, I do occasionally browse these sites and despite my absence on it, it's amusing to read the comments and receive feedback from my fans!`

REVEALED: An intimate party at Pataudi Palace for Newlywed Saif and Kareena

REVEALED: An intimate party at Pataudi Palace for Newlywed Saif and Kareena

Newlyweds Saif and Kareena will travel to Pataudi Palace to take part in dinner event to be attended by handpicked family members

Far away from the hubbub, a private but significant dinner is being hosted by the Pataudi Palace for Saif Ali Khan's extended royal family

While the entire country is going bonkers about the Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor nuptials, our sources close to the royal family say that an intimate but significant event will take place far from the madding crowd today.

The newlyweds will travel to the Pataudi Palace to take part in a family dinner that will see 36 handpicked family members attend the celebrations.

The invited guests belong to Saif's extended family all the way from London, Islamabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. Our source says, `The celebration is a close-knit affair as both the families are skeptical because of security reasons which Sharmila Tagore had admitted to, during her visit to Bhopal earlier in August.`

Our source from Pataudi elaborates, `The family has gone all out to impress the Kapoors! The arrangements at the Pataudi House are minimalistic from the outside but the palace is filled with grand masterpieces belonging to the erstwhile rulers of the Bhopal State.

Tiger Pataudi's mother Sajida Sultan was the daughter of the last ruler of Bhopal, Nawab Hamidullah Khan.` The palace is also filled with priceless crockery and artwork by artistes like MF Husain, S G Thakur Singh and the others.

Bhopal's erstwhile begum, Shahjahan, in the family Pishwas

Dress circle

For Kareena everything may be going according to what the couple had planned. However, one bit heirloom that remains elusive to Bebo is the special wedding attire called the Pishwas that belongs to the royal family and is woven out of real gold thread. The Pishwas is a long and flowy ensemble (almost like a gown) accompanied with a churidaar.

The dress was once a part of disputed family heirlooms and currently resides in the house of Saif's aunt Nilofer. Due to the feud over the property and assets, this traditional wedding ensemble will not be a part of Kareena's trousseau.

DiCaprio's 'Titanic' character could have survived

DiCaprio's 'Titanic' character could have survived

A new research has proved that Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) could have been saved in 'Titanic' had he climbed on to the wooden plank from which Rose (Kate Winslet) was plucked.

A US television show has carried out a series of tests that show DiCaprio's character could have survived the disaster had Rose removed her life jacket and put it under the raft, reported Daily Mail.

The Discovery Channel's 'Mythbusters' recreated the treacherous conditions after the Titanic sank in 1912 and, through hypothermia tests, discovered Jack would have survived the freezing conditions if he had climbed out.

In the 1997 film, Jack remains in the freezing water while Rose lies on top of a floating piece of the wreckage as he does not want to topple it. In the dramatic climax to the Oscar-winning epic, Jack dies from hypothermia while Rose is rescued.

'Titanic' director James Cameron told 'Mythbusters' he believed the wooden life raft would not have supported both Jack and Rose. But the team found that if Rose had taken off her lifejacket and put it under the raft it would have given them enough buoyancy to keep both of them afloat.

Cameron, however, had the last word telling the TV show that Jack had to die as that's what the script called for.

"I think you guys are missing the point here. The script says Jack died. He has to die. So maybe we screwed up and the board should have been a little tiny bit smaller, but the dude's goin' down."

Fancy some Guilt-free chocolate?

Researchers have discovered an innovative way for chocoholics to enjoy their favourite treat without piling on the extra kilograms.

In the quest for healthier chocolate, Dr Stefan Bon and his colleagues from Warwick University replaced half of the fat in chocolate bars with microscopic droplets of fruit juice.

The new chocolate retains many of the popular qualities of chocolate but without all the calories.

Bon said he first came up with the concept for the chocolate project about five years ago.

In the past year he and his team concentrated on what they could do with chocolate formulations, before discovering that by infusing orange juice and cranberry juice into milk, dark, and white chocolate, they could eliminate 50 percent of the cocoa butter and milk fats that traditionally go into the product.

The discovery "provides a great opportunity to develop exciting new chocolate-based confectionary products," Bon said.

"Everyone loves chocolate - but unfortunately we all know that many chocolate bars are high in fat," Stuff.co.nz quoted Bon as saying.

According to him, the healthier version still has the melt-in-the-mouth quality chocolate fans love.

"It's the fat that gives chocolate all the indulgent sensations that people crave - the silky smooth texture and the way it melts in the mouth but still has a 'snap' to it when you break it with your hand," he said.

"We've found a way to maintain all of those things that make chocolate 'chocolatey' but with fruit juice instead of fat," Bon added.

The study has been published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry.

Pay 5500 pounds for world's costliest cocktail

Costing a staggering 5,500 pounds-per-glass and made from ingredients that pre-date American Independence and the French Revolution, a cocktail maker has claimed to have set a new record for the most expensive drink in the world.

Salvatore's Legacy, uses four ingredients, a 1778 Clos de Griffier Vieux Cognac, a 1770 Kummel Liqueur, a circa 1860 Dubb Orange Curacao and two dashes of Angostura Bitters dating from around 1900, Sky News reported.

Guinness World Records said that it is investigating the claim, which would topple its current record holder, a cocktail costing 3,766.52 pounds that is served in a Dubai hotel.

The attempt was made at Salvatore Calabrese's bar at the Playboy Club London, in Mayfair, central London.

The record bid was supposed to take place in July but was delayed when a bottle of one of the ingredients smashed.

"I was devastated when my bottle smashed and thought my dream of breaking the world record was over, but thankfully it has all worked out and nothing will stop me now," Calabrese said before the attempt.

Liz Taylor's steamy affairs with Reagan and Kennedy exposed

Elizabeth Taylor allegedly slept with Ronald Reagan when she was a teenager and enjoyed a threesome with President John F. Kennedy and actor Robert Stack.

Authors Danforth Prince and Darwin Potter have spent years tracking down the scandalous details of the legendary actress' romances and affairs and they have laid her private life bare in an explosive new biography Elizabeth Taylor: There is Nothing Like a Dame.

In the book which promises "all the gossip unfit to print from the glory days of Hollywood", Prince and Porter claim Reagan was 36 when he invited a teenage Taylor to dine with him at his Hollywood Hills home, where she seduced him, the Daily Express reported.

She is believed to have told a close pal, "Reagan was treating me like a grown woman, and that thrilled me. We sat on his sofa and I could tell he wanted to get it on but he seemed reluctant to make the first move. I became the aggressor.

"After a heavy make-out session on the sofa, we went into the bedroom."

The book further goes on to claim that a nude dip in the politician's pool turned into a threesome with Taylor and Stack.

The authors claim the actress went on to have sexual encounters with stars including Peter Lawford, Errol Flynn, Tony Curtis, Paul Newman and Frank Sinatra.

8lb, 9oz Baby born on 10-11-12 @ 13:14

A baby girl, who was born in Des Moines, Iowa, has an alignment that numerologists can only dream of.

According to the newspaper The Des Moines Register, Laila Fitzgerald weighed 8lbs 9oz when she was born, the Mirror reported.

Her birth date was October 11 or 10/11/12, as the Americans display the date.

So the numbers that are associated with Laila's birth are 8-9-10-11-12-13-14.

Laila's mother, 26-year-old Katie Deremiah, of Des Moines, said that she had a feeling that Thursday would be the day, even though the due date was October 19.

Laila's father, 26-year-old Ryan Fitzgerald, told the publication that he would buy a lottery ticket as soon as he left the hospital.

'No, I don't regret doing Rockstar'

No, I don`t regret doing Rockstar: Aditi Rao Hydari

Aditi Rao Hydari made Mumbai her home almost three-and-a-half years back. And the actress, says she has no complaints.

Aditi, who admits that she lives in a dream-world is happy with the way her life has shaped up in the city of dreams. Speaking to CS, Aditi talks about living in Mumbai, her friends and support system:

Mumbai calling
When I came to Mumbai, I thought this place would be scary. I'm an only child and I have a protective family. Even the boarding school set-up was very different. There was no competition; it was an ideal place. Here, people can be nasty and I'm not used to that. But I believe one can survive in places like this. People have been very good to me here and I'm very grateful to them.

Support system
I don't have so many close friends from the industry and I like it that way. I keep that area separate from my personal space. I try not to let the boundaries merge.

I'm quite careful about having people close to me who will tell me the truth. In this industry, we hear a lot of praise on the face. But whether it's compliments or criticism, you have to see where it's coming from. You should take them seriously only if they're coming from people who're really close to you.

Variety is the spice
I don't like to be inconsequential in life, in my personal life and professional. I don't regret doing Delhi 6 or Rockstar, because even though they were small parts, I got a lot of love.

But for me to feel happy and excited, I want to live that journey of the character for a long time. And touchwood, that's the kind of work I'm getting. For a while, people did look at me as this sweet girl next door, and yes I do fit into that easily.

But as an actor, I want to fit myself into different kind of roles. I don't want to be slotted into the sunshine sweet girl category forever. It's lovely but I can do other stuff as well.

Man of my dreams
I like people who work hard, regardless of where they come from. I have made my own life and I have respect for people who do that. So I need to respect the guy I'm with. For me, it's all about staying power and patience.

These are old world qualities. But at the same time, people should live with the times. I like that balance between tradition and modernity. The person has to appeal to me aesthetically as well. From inside and outside, he should be beautiful.
